Facts about streams and sales


Billboard charts only counts streams, sales and radio plays from the United states. If you are an international fan it's good too because you can help her in your country charts, worldwide success and streaming milestones.



1. Which streaming services count towards billboard?

 Apple Music Paid service 1250 streams 1 unit sale
 Amazon Music Paid service 1250 streams 1 unit sale
 Google Play Paid service 1250 streams 1 unit sale
 Tidal Paid Service 1250 streams 1 unit sale
 Pandora Programmed 1250 streams 1 unit sale
 Spotify paid/ad supported 3750 streams 1 unit sale
 Youtube Ad supported 3750 streams 1 unit sale

  • Using paid services counts more towards the charts. Try installing spotify for free to increase streams on spotify and use paid streaming services like amazon and apple music* for billboard countings.

* = apple music is also available in androids.

2. Streaming from free spotify account counts? 
  • Yes, Streams from free spotify accounts count in total streams.

3. Why is buying songs/albums on itunes important?

  • 1 song sale = 150 streams
With more sales (pure and digital) more points will be counted.
Streaming is important to set and break records and will help in long run but sales are also important during the tracking week.

4. How to stream on Youtube?

  • Log in to your account stream once, like the video and log out. 
  • Stream unlimited times while you are logged out. 
  • Try making a playlist with the new video and an old video alternatively put together. So Youtube does not think you are a bot. 
  • 1 youtube view = more than 30 seconds of streaming.
  • If you replay or refresh after 40-50 seconds of watching, youtube will still count it as 1 view. 
  • Leave the playlist streaming in your device with earphones/headphones plugged in for whole day to save your time.

5. How to stream on Spotify?

  • Get a premium if you can. If not, it's still ok.
  • A song played over 30 seconds counts as 1 stream.
  • Make a 24 hr playlist, play the playlist in your device with ear plugs/headphones plugged in and let it play the whole day.
  • You can do it in the tracking week or when the song is near to reach a milestone.

6. Pure sales are still thriving and important:

1 pure sales = 10 digital downloads = 1250 streams on a paid service

If you can buy the merch bundles or vinyls or CDs it would be the best. After this you can still support your favorite artist with streaming.

7. Radio Callouts: 
Radio plays are also important and counts towards the charts.Here is a list of some pop radio stations you can call and request the songs. 
If you are an international fan, spam them on twitter and dm them on instagram.
